Murray State is ranked 9th in today's AP poll and tied for 7th in the ESPN/USA Today poll. UK remains #1 in both polls. Murray State Athletics has announced that general admission tickets for the men's basketball home game Thursday (Feb. 9) against Tennessee State will be available starting Monday at 8 a.m. through the CFSB Center Ticket Office. However, the Racers' remaining Saturday games, Austin Peay (Feb. 11) and the Sears BracketBuster against St. Mary's (Feb. 18) have sold out of reserved and general admission seats. The Racers women's basketball game Saturday (Feb. 11) against SEMO has been moved from 5:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Doors will open for Saturday's doubleheader at 3:30 p.m. and a doubleheader ticket is required for admission. Student-tickets will be available Monday (Feb. 6) and Tuesday (Feb. 7) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in lobby B of the CFSB Center for both the Thursday (Tennessee State) and Saturday (Austin Peay) games.
Students may bring up to five MSU IDs to pick up a total of five tickets for themselves and other current students. Any unclaimed student tickets at 4 p.m. Tuesday will be available for student pick-up via the ticket office in lower level lobby A of the CFSB Center on Wednesday (Feb. 8) between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. On Thursday (Feb. 4), any unclaimed student tickets for either the Tennessee State or Austin Peay games will be available for sale to the general public or for pick up by MSU students with a valid ID starting at 8 a.m.
The Murray State Racers came up short in their quest for an 11th OVC title as they took second place at the Ohio Valley Conference Rifle Championship at Martin. Jacksinville State won the title Two Racers freshman, Kelsey Emme and Kirsten Moyer, were named to the All-OVC Newcomer Team. Moyer also earned a spot on the All-OVC Air Rifle First Team, while Emme earned a spot on the All-OVC Smallbore Second Team. Ashley Rose ended her MSU career being named to the All-OVC Smallbore First Team and to the All-OVC Air Rifle Second Team. Sophomore Bill Harvey was named to the All-OVC Smallbore First Team.
The Murray State women’s basketball team will return to the CFSB Center for the first of four-straight games at home. The Racers will first host Tennessee State, Monday as part of the NCAA Pack the House Challenge. The Lady Tigers are 8-16 overall and 4-8 in the Ohio Valley Conference standings after losing their last three games. Airtime tonight is 6:55 on Froggy 103.7.

The Murray State men’s tennis team fell to No. 43 Memphis, 7-0, at The Racquet Club in Memphis. The match was the third-straight in as many days for the Racers (0-4), who will now be idle until Feb. 24.
The Murray State women’s tennis team started the 2011-12 season by earning a win over North Alabama at the Kenlake Tennis Center in Aurora, Ky. The win was also the first win for new head coach Kara Amundson in her first match at the helm of the Racers (1-0) program. The Racers will next host Evansville, Friday at 1 p.m. at Kenlake Tennis Center. The match is the annual Pink-Out match, with the team wearing pink to raise awareness for the fight against breast Cancer.
In girls high school basketball Saturday night,. Marshall County nipped Murray High 41-39 at Reed Conder Gymnasium. The win mean's Marshall County and Calloway County will play for the top seed in the 4th distruct tournament Friday night provided the Lady Marshals prevail as expected over CCA tomorrow night. I the boys game Satruday, Marshall County defeated Murray High 73-42. In other girls action Saturday night, Henderson County beat Calloway County 73-55. In games tonight, Murray High hosts Mayfield in a boys-girls twinbill. Airtime is 5:30 on 1340 WNBS. The Calloway County boys hit the road to play at Union City.
The New York Giants defeated the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 46, 21-17. It's the second championship for the Giants in five seasons. They also defeated the Patriots in Super Bowl 42, 17-14. Eli Manning was named MVP after throwing for 296 yards and a touchdown to Victor Cruz. The win gave New York its fourth Lombardi Trophy in franchise history. Tom Brady threw for 276 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in a losing effort. Brady's second scoring toss gave the Pats a 17-9 lead. New York responded with a pair of Lawrence Tynes field goals, then capped the scoring with Bradshaw's late TD. Tom Brady's desperation heave in the end zone fell incomplete as time expired.
The St. Louis Rams are in the process of completing an agreement with the city's Convention and Visitors Commission to allow the team to play home games in London the next three seasons. Last week word came down that playing the contests overseas would violate the Rams' lease agreement at Edwards Jones Dome. Rams EVP of football operations Kevin Demoff says tickets for St. Louis' October 28th meeting with New England at Wembley could go on sale later this week.
