WKYT in Lexington has confirmed a former UK basketball player is in jail facing at least two charges. Michael Porter last played for UK in 2009. An arrest citation shows Porter is charged with sexual abuse and sodomy involving at least one minor. Court documents show on two separate occasions, Porter gave and received oral sex from a 14-year-old whom police say he met as a group leader at a church function. Separate documents allege the same type of crime happened involving a 15-year-old, but it's not clear if there were two victims.
Director of Athletics Allen Ward announced yesterday that Jay Pyron will not return for a fourth season at the helm of Racer Softball. Ward said he appreciated all that Jay has done to build the program from scratch, but said that after evaluating all aspects of the program, he believes a change will benefit the future development and the overall direction of the program. Pyron finishes his career at Murray State with an overall record of 80-79, 43-37 in OVC play. A search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
